The Airtable Acquisition: A Builder's Take
Since a number of people have asked this week, here are my thoughts on the Airtable acquisition.
I've been building in Airtable for years. It's central to how I run my business and how I help my clients, so the news hit close to home.
First, what do we know definitively? Bending Spoons has agreed to acquire Airtable.
What is speculation? Literally everything else.
We can make some educated guesses based on Bending Spoons' track record with prior acquisitions, but that doesn't guarantee any specific outcomes.
Airtable is simply one of my all-time favorite tools. I've introduced it to many of my clients, and I personally use it daily to, among other things, run my business, organize all of my LinkedIn content, keep important dates and reminders organized for me and my wife, track my fantasy sports, and plan for upcoming trips.
I'd sum it up this way: with Airtable, I build whatever I need for whatever I want. It's that versatile and customizable.
But here's the reality: there are plenty of viable Airtable alternatives in 2026, far more than there were even five years ago. I plan to continue using Airtable ... but I'm also glad I've got all my builder certifications for SmartSuite, and I plan to explore Zite, Fibery, and other tools more.
It never hurts to be prepared. I'm not panicking with this news, but I am paying attention. And if you rely on Airtable the way I do, you probably should be too.
